Governor Profiles

Mrs Denise Scarlett

Denise moved to Holme Hale 10 years ago to the house she grew up in.  She currently works as an HR Manager for a company in Downham Market and has over 20 years’ experience in HR and Employment Law gained in the private and public sectors.

Denise became a School Governor in September 2019 and has responsibility for monitoring SEND.  She is also the Year 1 Governor Buddy.

Mr Mark Hodder

Having grown up in Southampton, I relocated to Norwich to begin my degree in Geophysical Sciences at UEA in 2003… and have lived in Norfolk ever since! Following my degree, I was a teaching assistant for one year and then completed my PGCE at UEA, becoming a qualified teacher in 2008. Since then, I have worked in schools in a variety of different settings, and have gained experience as a Subject Leader, Year Group Leader, Key Stage Leader, a member of the school Senior Leadership Team and now as a Deputy Headteacher. I am also a director of a charitable company based in Norwich and a keen Southampton football fan.

Mrs Vicki Long

I moved from South London to Norfolk in September 2000 to begin my teaching career.  My career to date has been enriched by a wonderful array of experiences working in a number of different leadership roles.   In January 2019, I was thrilled to commence my Headship here at Necton VA Primary School.  I am a member of the Executive Board for Norfolk Music Hub.  I remain a keen musician and enjoy playing my Violin as a member of the Music Group at St John the Baptist Roman Catholic Cathedral, Norwich.

Mr Dave Faccenda-Tait

I have been a Governor for 7 years. I am a Foundation Governor representative of the Necton School and Church estate Trust.

I have experience in IT and work as an ICT Technician working at 3 primary schools.  I am a member of the Business Resources Committee and also have responsibility for health and Safety.

Mrs Jane Barley

I moved to Norfolk in 1991 from Cambridgeshire. I am a midwife and for ten years worked on the community in Swaffham and surrounding area before moving back into the hospital for a career change. I came to know the area and surrounding villages very well. I became a Governor at Necton middle School in 2000 when my daughter started school there and I continued as a Governor through the transition to becoming a Primary school. The role of a school Governor has changed dramatically over the last few years and I have enjoyed the challenge of this role. I have learnt a lot about education and the changing demands upon families and children.  I took on the role of Vice Chair in 2016 and became Chair of Governors in 2017. It is a role that I am passionate about and want to be able to ensure that we provide the best for our children.

Mr Peter Simpson

As a keen birder and wildlife photographer I made regular visits to Norfolk for many years before finally moving from Hertfordshire to Necton in 2002. I worked for the RSPB in Norwich before stopping work to look after my children. My children have attended Necton school since 2003 and I joined the governing board in 2017. I am chair of the curriculum and standards committee and have a particular interest in science and religious education. I am the year 4 governor buddy.

Mr Adam Piercy

Adam studied accountancy with a regional firm in Norfolk and has 25 years experience in Finance and Business Management having worked for several owner-managed businesses. Adam now runs his own business supporting and advising small business owners. Adam is Chair of our Business and Resources committee which looks after the Budgets, the school premises and personnel. He monitors the school budget throughout the year and alongside Peter is responsible for Pupil Premium and Sports Premium. Adam is the Year 2 Governor Buddy.

Mrs Kathy Barrett

After working in HR for 40 years in the City of London, the last 15 as Head of HR, Kathy retired in 2015.  She moved to Necton in 2018 keen to be active in the community. Kathy was appointed as a school Governor in June 2019 and is a member of the Finance and Resources Committee.

Miss Cathy Brooks
