Our School Vision
Belong, believe, thrive, achieve.
Rooted in Christ, we learn, grow and flourish.
School Vision - explained
We are a thriving rural community proud of our agricultural situation and heritage. All stakeholders in our school community believe that our school should be a place that children learn, grow and flourish. Our philosophy and vision for education ensures that each child will explore many different concepts so that they discover new knowledge, gain new skills and secure sound understanding in their learning. Every child is unique and will have different dreams, personalities and routes to explore as they grow and learn each day.
BELONG: Our school is for everyone and we are proud to be a holistic and inclusive community.
BELIEVE: We each come together with different personal beliefs. We work together through a shared understanding of our school vision and the Gospel values.
THRIVE: Just like in the parable of the mustard seed, the field was a good place for the seed to grow into the strongest tree; we support our children to thrive and flourish.
ACHIEVE: Our children develop as confident individuals who can reflect, explore and articulate the wisdom, knowledge and skills that they learn during their time with us.
ROOTED IN CHRIST, WE LEARN, GROW AND FLOURISH
Our school vision is inspired by the parable of the mustard seed: “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field; which indeed is smaller than all seeds. But when it is grown, it is greater than the herbs, and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in its branches.” Matthew 13: 31-32
We firmly believe that we must provide the best possible foundations for every child in our school family to learn and grow; our school needs to be the like best field possible so that the seeds that are sown in our soil can grow to be the strongest plants that reach far and high.
School Values
There are many school values that children learn about throughout school life and these often overlap or link with each other. We use these four overarching principles, ‘belong, believe, thrive, achieve,’ to put our values into context within the school vision. Learning about these through this structure helps children to explore, reflect and make connections between ideas as well as to affirm where these values sit within their own identities.
These values are regularly explored throughout our curriculum:
Honesty Confidence Joy Wisdom Dignity Humility Generosity Thankfulness Respect Courage Perseverance Justice Friendship Peace Trust Creativity Hope Service Compassion
Children enjoy learning from the different books in the Bible and exploring these values in the context of their own lives and community. They also enjoy discovering more about other world religions and finding out how these values are an important part of people’s lives, their individual spirituality and their faith.
Our school vision, and the values children learn about and promote in our school community, help us to ensure that God is at the centre of our school: in the way we learn, play and thrive together.
