Attending School
Your child is expected to be in school every day.
In the unlikely event that your child is unable to come to school, you must inform us of this as soon as possible. On the morning you know your child will be absent, please phone the school, by 9.00am, and let us know clearly explaining what the reason is for child's absence.
Please note that every child during the school year is quite likely to pick up the usual bugs, viruses or colds that come around each season. These are not usually so severe that a child is too unwell to come to school. Children should NOT miss school because they have a runny nose, are just feeling ‘a bit under the weather’, they have a sore throat or a gentle cough. They should only be absent from school if they are so unwell that they have a temperature of 38-degrees or higher; or if they have vomited or had diarrhoea in the last 24 hours. If your child seems 'not their usual selves', please send them in to school. We monitor and carefully support all the children, if their health condition deteriorates during the day we will contact you.
Please note: if your child is experiencing vomiting or diarrhoea, they can only return to school when 48 hours have passed since their last 'episode' of this.
At Necton Primary School, we understand that the government legislation will impact on some families more than others. We also understand that some families find such legislation frustrating, however, the principle behind the legislation is simple: to ensure that every child has the highest possible attendance, thus increasing their educational and future life chances.
• This legislation applies to ALL families.
• This penalty notice legislation applies to ALL UNAUTHORISED ABSENCE INCLUDING HOLIDAY REQUESTS with immediate effect from 19th August 2024.
• If your child has unauthorised absence that meets this threshold, you will be contacted by the local authority regarding the Penalty Notice Fine that will apply as a result of the unauthorised absence.
